
Michael vom Baur is a Senior Executive with 3 decades of experience in international business, predominantly in the maritime industry, but also in engineering & construction and renewable energies. Being graduated naval architect with solid engineering and R&D management background, he has worked most of his career in marketing & sales, business development and general management. He had full P+L responsibility in SMEs and group business units, direct shared P+L responsibility in companies with up to € 300M turnover and 1.000+ employees and was Senior Vice President in the Group Management of Europe's largest shipbuilding group and Member of the Board in a later spin-off group of it.
Michael vom Baur has special experiences in the management of tasks dealing with innovative and complex technology in large international projects, paired with proven teambuilding, communication and negotiation skills in cross-cultural environment (Europe, Asia, Americas). By being elected for Brussels based association functions for some years, he has developed a deep understanding of EU 's R&D- and industry politics and related processes and can count on a dense European and international network.
He is familiar with the environment of start-ups and owner managed companies as well as with the procedures of a major stock listed industry group, with military and civilian business. In many of the positions he held he has been responsible for external communications and relations to politics (national and European).
Since January 2010 he is exclusively working for his own consultancy business, which was already established as a side activity in 2001. From August 2013 until October 2016 he had accepted an interim role in the management of his long-term client Hoppe Marine GmbH, Hamburg/Germany, a leading family managed supplier for measuring and control systems as well as roll damping / anti-heeling systems. However, the consulting business in MvB euroconsult continued during this period. Since December 2016 Michael vom Baur is member of the supervisory board of SOHNIX AG, Lambrechtshagen (Region Rostock/ Germany), an innovative medium-sized provider of IT-systems, data centers and IT-services.
